The chunky sneaker trend seems to show no sign of slowing down with a number of brands adopting the style for a number of releases. Doir has weighed in its own version with the Doir Homme B22. Designed and created by Kris Van Assche the B22 silhouette is slightly more toned down chunky sneaker showing more lines of an athletic sports trainer. Gucci Leather Ryton Low Top
To continue the chunky dad shoe trend, Gucci launched a truly instagram ready dad sneaker this year with the release of the Gucci Leather Low. The sneaker featured a leather upper, leather lining and lace gaps above a rubber sole. The trainer is then finished off with Guuci’s brand logo across the sidewall. The Stella McCartney Eclypse is the chunkey sneaker that you didn’t hear about and should have. The design of the trainer carefully overlays a bulky trainer in mixture of panels to create a busy layered upper. The upper sits above a thick sole that gives an almost platformed effect. Louis Vuitton Arclight Sneakers
One of the statement pieces from Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer fashion show was the Arclight. Inspired by 90’s basketball and futuristic trends the Arclight uses a mixture of technical fabrics to construct its design. A contender to Balenciaga and Gucci’s chunky trainers embracing a slightly more futuristic theme the Arclight keeps a chunky sole but sleek upper . Givenchy Runner Active
Givenchy launched their Active line of sneakers taking core influences from sport for their ss18 range. The Runner Active features a black elasticated strap with heavy Givenchy bold branding and slip on style shoe. The low-top shape is crafted from a mesh upper panel leading to a leather toe cap to the front. The leather toe cap also features a gold Givenchy logo to the rear. The Bally Gavino is part of Bally’s retro collection taking inspiration from their retro running classics.
